Neck Pain in Eagan MN

Are you suffering from neck pain in Eagan, MN? Neck pain is a common problem. Whether it’s the result of a wrong move during a workout, looking at a computer screen 10 hours a day or an accident of some kind, neck pain is a sign that you have an underlying problem that needs correction.

Causes of Neck Pain

There are many things that can cause neck pain. Muscle strain from overuse is a common cause. This can happen from being hunched over a computer, smart phone, or workbench, reading in bed, or even gritting your teeth. The neck is vulnerable to injury. An injury to the neck can occur in an auto accident, during contact sports, or during exercise. Neck pain can also be caused by diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Neck pain is not a serious problem most of the time, but in some cases it can be a sign of a more severe underlying issue.

What Can I Do to Correct and Avoid Neck Pain?

Here are a few things you can do immediately:

  • Take a break from activities that may be contributing to the pain (i.e. sports, heavy lifting, exercise)
  • Apply ice to your neck 2-3 times per day in 15 minute intervals
  • Get a high quality pillow that fits the curvature of your neck
  • Use good posture during all activities
  • Hold books and touch screen devices up at eye level when in use
  • Change your position often – do not stand or sit in one position for too long
  • Keep your head up and shoulder back! Just like a king or queen

While all these tips will help you maintain proper alignment in your spine, the only true, proven way to correct misalignments in your spine is to be checked and adjusted by a chiropractor.
